“‘A Line in The Sand’, my most recent project documenting Palestinians living under occupation in Masafer Yatta in the West Bank, differs from previous works. Unlike the written-based journalistic work which makes up the bulk of my practice, this subject is specifically explored through photographic content and is complimented by field recordings; giving the audience the opportunity to gain an insight not only visually, but also audibly. Through these mediums, ‘A Line in the Sand’ provides a glimpse into life in rural Palestinian communities as well as the severe means in which settlers and occupational forces attempt to expel them. Despite the severity of their situation, the Palestinian residents of Masafer Yatta remain and continue to embrace elements of a joyful existence aligned with their identity and connection to the land.”
