AL LINDSAY

Cluster Photography & Print Exhibitor 2025

GRID | 2023

Al Lindsay is a professional freelance photographer based in Surrey, working mostly out of London and throughout the UK.

His interest in photography started when he got his first camera at the age of 7. He was fascinated that every click of the shutter was a moment captured in time, frozen forever in a photograph. This instantly connected Al to the camera. The power of photography was something he wanted to pursue and he knew it would be part of him for the rest of his life.

Whenever Al is photographing near or far from his home he tries to embrace a sense of discovery. His photography is a reaction to the world around him. He captures natural transient moments when the subject matter, mood, composition, and light connect simultaneously to create meaningful photographs. He is interested in many genres of photography and is always exploring and experimenting with new themes. He has been particularly drawn to street photography and architecture over the last few years.

My source of inspiration is continuously moving and changing from whatever environment I am in at that moment. My street photography captures the diverse range of people and settings in our built environment and isolates & captures moments that otherwise might not be noticed. My architectural photography is inspired by the evolution of living spaces and modern living, highlighting our changing urban spaces. Capturing nature, in its various seasons and visible form with colour, texture, and shape in natural light is important to my work. Recently I have been exploring the harmony of nature and street photography, capturing it growing within our streets’ hard landscape.

This particular collection focuses on hidden identities and how faceless society has become.
