Carla Matos, a Portuguese designer living in Paris, has a degree in International Relations and has worked in telecommunications. One day, she chanced upon a Jewelry School near her workplace and decided to further explore her interest by enrolling in Contacto Directo Jewellery School.

In 2009, she made a career change because one can only truly love what they do when they pursue their passion. Gradually, her creations gained international recognition, being selected by prestigious museum shops such as MoMA, La Pedrera Barcelona, Queensland Museum Australia, Museum of Modern Art (MCA) Chicago, and MAK Austria. This recognition allowed her to pursue her true passion freely.

In 2021, Carla was nominated for the "Femina Prize for Merit in Arts and Visual Arts" by Matriz Portuguesa. In 2019, she pursued studies in "Fashion Sustainability" at UAL London, and in 2021, she was named a "Climate Pact Ambassador" by the European Union. In 2022, she was selected for the Incubator program at the "Institut Français de la Mode."
Today, she is no longer Carla Matos, the corporate manager; she is the driving creative force behind the brand Carla_M. This is Jewellery Inspired by Matter!

CARLA_M.’s pieces come from a constant search for new aesthetic and functional values in unusual materials: rubber, springs, plastics, acrylic, stainless steel, elastics, carbon fiber, and other industrial components or dead stocks.
Upcycling was the way to try to breathe new life and meaning into these materials, reinterpreting their functions, and defying your senses.”
