Caroline Palmer, a London native, spent many years working as a journalist before embarking on her journey into the world of jewelry at the K2 School of Contemporary Jewellery. Her artistic endeavors have been showcased at esteemed venues such as Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury, where K2 is located. Additionally, her work has been featured at notable events including the Camden Alive event in 2020 at the British Museum, and the ReClaim show at the Onion Garden in London’s Victoria in 2023. For Caroline, her work serves as a form of self-expression, meticulously curated through her eclectic tastes and diverse cultural influences. It mirrors her profound appreciation for adornment and acknowledges the transformative power inherent in jewelry.

My work revolves around experimentation and exploration, delving into both the external world and the unconscious mind. Inspiration can arise from various sources, whether it’s something found on the pavement in London or in the countryside of Dorset, a theatre performance, or a television advertisement. Anything and everything can spark the imagination.

Following the creative pause during the Covid lockdown, a dried-out packet of Dettol wet wipes discovered at the back of a cupboard became the catalyst for a series of jewelry pieces. These pieces delve into themes of the circular economy, sustainability, and plastic waste, while also finding beauty in the everyday.

These themes have long interested me as a journalist, and now I explore them further through my creative practice in unique ways.
