TIARE RIBEAUX
Tiare Ribeaux is an interdisciplinary Hawaiian-American artist, filmmaker, writer and artistic director based in the Bay Area. She founded B4BEL4B in 2014 as a platform and community space to prioritise critically underrepresented artists in technology and media arts, and co-founded REFRESH Art, Science and Technology in 2016. Her artistic practice explores the interfacing of technology with our human bodies and the environment, employing storytelling to make visible social and ecology imbalances. Drawing upon past scientific expertise, her work incorporates bio-textile design, aiming to redefine the binaries of natural and unnatural. She has won grants and awards from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, and the Center for Cultural Innovation. In 2019 she was awarded a residency with Akademie Schloss Solitude + ZKM and was selected for the American Arts Incubator between 2017 and 2018 with ZERO1.
