MadLab 1 is the first piece of a serieS of narrative installationS. This installation was formed around the process's exploration of the artificial life's myth. The homunculus alchemist recipe attributed to Paracelsus in the 16th century describes the making of a man-made man, an artificial human, cooked and born in a glass jar. This scene, later anchored by Goethe's Faust, is nowadays a hubristic's creation theatrical metaphor. The installation presents pieces of this story, allowing it to enter a forbidden altered reality. Using references from George Bataille’s surrealist critical dictionary, the objects displayed use symbolic tools of forbidden places, fertile for creative horror and terrific wonder - either a scientific laboratory, a slaughterhouse, or the alchemist workshop - staging the audience as a witness of unsolved mysteries.
