Abecedario Series | 2021

Uribe's "Abecedario" series is a captivating collection of textile pieces that function as a speculative language. These artworks prompt us to envision a three-dimensional language, introducing changes that arise when symbols become tangible and tactile. When these pieces are held, felt, and played with, they collectively form a language designed to stimulate thought through tactile engagement. This tactile, pliable nature of textiles stands in stark contrast to the traditional perception of language as logical and detached. "Abecedario" offers a playful invitation to consider language as a means of interacting with the physical world, turning it into a code of sensations rather than just a rational tool.

In addition to their exploration of language, Uribe delves into the realm of ancient myths from various civilisations. They reinterpret these age-old stories through contemporary mediums and for modern audiences, breathing new life into these narratives. Their work is a testament to their unceasing curiosity and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of how we express and communicate ourselves.
