Originally drawn to fashion, Emily Elina discovered her passion for jewellery during a sculpture foundation course, recognising it as the perfect blend of sculpture and fashion. At Central Saint Martins, she honed her skills through various internships, developing expertise in both jewellery techniques and leatherwork. This experience allowed Emily Elina to explore and combine these skills, resulting in her development of techniques that integrate materials like leather and metal, setting stones into leather, and combining both seamlessly.
Her graduate collection, The New Century Modern, celebrates mid-century modern furniture, drawing inspiration from the works of Le Corbusier, Oscar Niemeyer, and Eero Aarnio. She introduced furniture-making techniques, such as upholstering, into jewellery design, reimagining furniture and sculpture in wearable forms. Her work is a testament to her belief that jewellery should be as captivating as it is wearable.
