Federica Aiello Pini (b. 1980) is an Italian multidisciplinary artist whose work spans fine arts, illustration, and socially engaged projects. With a background in Fine Arts from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna and Illustration studies in Florence, she further specialized in paper art through a Masterclass at the Venice Biennale. Her artistic practice includes live performances, installations, mixed media and collage works.

Federica's years living in Panama deeply influenced her work, as the lush forests and vibrant colors left a lasting impact. This creative evolution continued in Portugal, where the powerful energy of the ocean enriched her creative universe. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with pieces held in private and institutional collections, including the Portuguese Embassies in Panama and Oslo.

She has developed art workshops centreed on well-being, collaborating with institutions like Fondazione Palazzo Te and healthcare settings such as Poma Hospital in Mantua. Currently a Global Arts in Medicine fellow, Federica curates the Arts & Creativity for Displacement project for the TAMASHA Festival. As a UN Online Volunteer, she also contributes to Simuka Africa, promoting the transformative power of art in communities worldwide.

My artistic practice combines drawing, painting, mixed media, sometimes resulting in paper-based installations, often containing recycled materials.
I explore themes vital to our collective future, such as climate change and human rights, focusing particularly on the experiences of women, migrants, and indigenous communities.
By intertwining mythological narratives and shamanic traditions, I connect these ancient stories to contemporary environmental and social struggles, highlighting their timeless and universal relevance.

ON FIRE | DETAIL

VASO DI FIORI

Mixed media (acrylic, oil, pastel, pencil, gold leaf, crystals, …) evoke multiple perceptions and sensations. Through collage made from pieces of my previous works, torn and reassembled, I construct a concept of time that is not linear but synchronic, where past, present, and future coexist, interweaving possibilities.

In my site-specific installation On Fire, I respond to the recent catastrophic fires around the world - fires caused by climate change, neglect, and greed. I use torn pieces from past works, sewn and collaged into fiery forms, to sublimate destruction into reflection and hope. These pieces, painted directly with my hands during live performances, bear my fingerprints, adding an intimate, human element to the work. This theme of regeneration mirrors my broader artistic practice: seeking new paths and ways forward in the face of crisis.
