FRAGMENTS OF YESTERDAY | 2024

Gabriela Valenzuela (b.1989) is a Mexican photographer with over five years of experience. Her work is strongly influenced by street photography, black-and-white imagery, and minimalism. She specialises in capturing movement through long-exposure techniques, often highlighting people in significant moments or spaces. Inspired by renowned photographer Phil Penman, with whom she attended a workshop, Gabriela has developed a style that combines the rawness of street photography with the expansive beauty of landscapes.

NO LIMITS ALLOWED | 2024

My practice captures the intersection of movement and stillness through long-exposure techniques, focusing on fleeting moments where time stretches. This invites viewers to reflect on the balance between chaos and calm. My work combines natural landscapes with the unpredictable movement of people, creating minimalistic yet cinematic narratives.

LIQUID SKIES

The featured photographs, depicting the Milky Way over a rocky coastline, reflects my fascination with the vastness of the universe. It contrasts the eternal beauty of the stars with the rugged, transient nature of the Earth below. The use of long exposure enhances the ethereal quality, offering a timeless perspective that bridges the natural world and the cosmos.

Looking ahead, I plan to further explore dynamic human presence within natural environments. These projects will continue pushing the boundaries of long-exposure techniques and cinematic storytelling.
