GIOVANNA SALA AKA METEOAVVERSO
Cluster Photography & Print Exhibitor | AI Showcase | 2025
Giovanna Sala (b. 1982), working under the moniker Meteoavverso (Italian for "bad weather"), creates digital portraits and video pieces that explore feminine identity through a dreamlike lens. Since 2022, she has developed a distinctive visual language that merges AI with fashion photography aesthetics, crafting ethereal, editorial-style portraits where familiar elements dissolve into the unexpected. These works create contemplative spaces that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination.
With two decades of experience applying an editorial and image-focused approach to projects for various organisations, Giovanna has also established herself as an educator in the field. As Co-Founder of Aiway Magazine and its associated creative lab, she is dedicated to teaching AI technologies to professional photographers and creatives.
“The people in my images exist in a space between dream and memory—they might be reflections of lives unlived, embodiments of fleeting emotions, or visualisations of abstract ideas that cannot quite be expressed in words. Each portrait begins with the familiar language of fashion and editorial photography but then drifts into more personal territory.
I find myself creating figures that feel both intimate and unreachable, speaking to both the artificial and profoundly human aspects of contemporary beauty. They emerge as visual echoes of internal landscapes—perhaps versions of the self that exist only in possibility or emotions that needed a face to be understood. Through these portraits, I explore the space between who we are and who we imagine we could be, searching for those quiet moments where beauty transforms into something slightly strange and wonderful.”
