UNTITLED (2)

Halle Hirota (b. 1998) is a photographer, multimedia artist and events curator. She works in various mediums such as film and digital media as well as video and creative direction. Her preferred medium is experimental portrait photography, and exploring how printed photographs can take new tangible form. Over the past year her work has expanded to installation work, as well as experimenting with different methods of print including wood transfer, cyanotypes, and fabric printing. Her conceptual work heavily revolves around femininity and sexuality, specifically pertaining to preconceived notions of nudity and censorship.

Since she started photographing her peers in 2016, as well as spending two years abroad working with creatives in Berlin, Halle has hosted numerous galleries and cultural arts events in Toronto from 2018-present. She is constantly pursuing new mediums and subject matter to expand her creative audience. Halle currently lives in Toronto where she continues to grow in her self-exploration and role as an artist.

KISS

UNTITLES 1+2

My personal conceptual work is largely centered around portraits of bodies and the relation we have to our own sexualities as well as that of others, with the intention of placing the power of perception in the hands of my subjects.

LOVE HOTEL

In a previous exhibition, ‘Rules & Regulations’ (2021), I explored the femme form and celebrated the uncensored body, in both its sensual and non-sensual forms.

ARTWORK FOR PURCHASE AVAILABLE SOON

‘Between The Sheets’ is a continuation of my artistic ethos rooted in reclaiming one’s corporeal power and owning the perceptions imposed upon our sexualities. This is the first project since ‘Rules and Regulations’ that I’ve branched back into self-portraiture through exploring my own body in parts of my work. Exploring the esoteric undertones of sensuality through forms and textures, this project tastefully blends traditional photography and textiles to create interactive elements and transforms the environment into one cohesive installation.
