SOFT OBJECT 2

Cavents‘ work transcends the conventions of his chosen mediums, as he suitably navigates the intricate dance between light and emulsion. Through his lens, he unravels the latent potential that resides within the ordinary, breathing life into scenes that seem suspended in the present yet loaded with possible future narratives. Each click of the shutter becomes a portal, inviting viewers to contemplate the rudimentary stages of transformation that lie within the mundane.

The exploration of the aesthetics of the overlooked is a returning aspect in my work. I reveal beauty in places often dismissed as unsightly, reminding us that aesthetics can thrive in the most unexpected corners of our existence. The showcased collection merges excerpts from a wide range of contexts, thereby forging novel spaces through their interconnectedness. My oeuvre encourages us to recalibrate our perspectives, revealing the profound interplay between the repulsive, the unacknowledged and the lustrous.
— Jeroen Cavents

My artistic practice endeavours to carve out uncharted domains that lie between reality and fiction, conjuring a parallel realm that exists solely in the realm of imagination. This ethereal realm occupies the delicate space between the tangible and the imperceptible, toying with the concepts of interiority, exteriority and allusion. Within this intangible interstice between inner and outer dimensions, the fertile ground for novel outlooks and multifaceted understandings takes root.
— Jeroen Cavents
