JOANA KATINA
Cluster Photography & Print Exhibitor | AI Showcase | 2025
Joana Katina (b. 1982) is an AI artist from Lithuania. She holds a PhD in computer science and teaches AI lectures, making AI an integral part of her work. Since childhood, she has been passionate about the arts, studying painting, ceramics, and photography in various societies and schools. She is also a professional macro nature photographer. In 2023, she became interested in AI-generated art, founded a Facebook group for Lithuanian AI artists, and actively promotes this emerging artistic medium in her country.
She believes AI offers artists immense creative freedom to explore different visual art techniques. For this reason, she does not limit herself to a single approach but experiments with various styles. As a photographer and nature enthusiast, her art often reflects a deep connection with and admiration for the natural world. However, she is equally fascinated by the realm of emotions, and many of her pieces explore different emotional states.
“My artistic practice revolves around the fusion of artificial intelligence and expression, focusing on the connection with nature and the complexities of human emotion. Drawing from my background in photography and visual arts, I experiment with diverse styles, refusing to be confined to a single aesthetic.
Metamorphosis of Emotions is a series of AI-generated works exploring the fluidity of emotions through abstract and surreal transformations. This project visualises the shifting nature of feelings, capturing their ephemeral and ever-evolving states. Metamorphosis of Emotions is an invitation to navigate the intangible world of emotions through the lens of artificial intelligence.”
