LAVINIA BO

Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibitor 2022

Impressions in time | Lost wax casting Collection overview | Not for sale.

Lavinia Bo was always a creative. Growing up in Somerset she spent all of her time drawing, imagining and creating. She was frequently told off for daydreaming when she was meant to be focused on important things – she would often get lost in memories and thoughts, but then someone would snap her attention back to reality. Truth be told, Lavinia always thought that imagination and memories were too important to interrupt.

Lavinia Bo moved to London in her late teens when she got a place on the University of the Arts London Foundation course at Central Saint Martins, continuing her education there with a BA in Jewellery Design. Her final collection “Impressions in Time” was where her designs first used wax to record knocks and damage over time, each piece telling the story of its creation.

The main inspiration for Lavinia Bo’s jewellery is materiality. Materials surround us and have far-reaching effects that we often do not see. We explore our world through touch and Lavinia Bo’s designs exploit this. We believe that an object’s meaning and value is most deeply understood through touch.

These thoughts ultimately lead to the design of the keepsake collection where Lavinia Bo hoped to capture and preserve passing interactions. With each touch leaving a permanent mark on the surface of the ring, the idea is to record these otherwise fleeting  moments. The tactile surface of the keepsake ring holds value beyond the precious metal, carried with you as a physical link to a moment gone. You can now hold your favourite moments in your hand
