Lour Oukall is a Palestinian glass artist from Shefa’amr, Southern Galilee. She is the founder of Amorphous Glass Studio, a home studio dedicated to the intricate art of flameworking.

Lour’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in research and material experimentation, exploring the performative qualities of glass and its often ‘invisible’ presence in our daily lives through jewellery and sculptural objects. Her work examines how adornment can transform not only the individual but also perceptions of glass as a tactile and wearable medium. Each creation becomes a dialogue between the wearer and the material, inviting contemplation on identity, belonging, and the human experience.

Her practice with glass inspires her to explore and question connections and their breakages, delving into the complexities of relationships—whether with the land we inhabit, the people around us, or the very material she manipulates. Glass often serves as a metaphor for fragility and resilience, reflecting how experiences shape our understanding of ourselves and our surroundings.

Lour’s journey into the world of glass began with a serendipitous encounter, leading her to earn a BFA from the Ceramics and Glass Department at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. She later established her home studio, where she continually pushes the boundaries of glass, exploring the medium in new and innovative ways.

At Amorphous Glass Studio, Lour explores the dynamic relationship between glass and the human experience through the art of flameworking. This home studio serves as both a sanctuary for creativity and a platform for connection, embodying her belief that art is a shared journey. Inspired by the inherent versatility of glass, Lour’s work examines themes of connection and fragility, reflecting on the intricate ties that bind us and how they can both form and break.

Each piece of wearable glass jewellery and sculptural object she creates invites viewers to contemplate shared experiences and the often-overlooked ability we possess to communicate collectively. Through her work, she strives to foster a sense of community, offering immersive workshops where participants engage with the medium and with one another in a supportive environment. These sessions not only teach the craft of flameworking but also strengthen bonds within the community.
