Our approach is a blend of commitment to the matter and the desire for exploration and experimentation. We aim to push the boundaries of materials and challenge the conventional production processes. We aspire to combine the projects’ various studies, as we believe that their intersection could be found something extraordinary.

COPPER MOSS VASE | DETAIL

Liudmila Galchenko and Vladimir Chernosvitov are multidisciplinary designers collaborating on a wide range of projects. Over the years they worked individually and together on a variety of projects mostly focusing on visual and digital design. In 2015 they went to study a Master's program led by Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler at IED Madrid. This program was a starting point for them to take a broader look and introduce a more explorational and hands-on approach into their work. After a year of studies, they decided to bring together our experimental research work under one roof and created a Piece of Cake collective. At Piece of Cake, they mostly focus on interdisciplinary projects that blur the lines between different fields challenging conventional production processes.

Most of our experimental projects involve creating products whose form is shaped by natural processes over time. We start our work with a concept, an idea or an emotion we want to convey. We like to explore the industry’s history, understanding the evolution of production methods, and recognizing how these methods have influenced the current visual language. The materials and processes employed in the past guide our choice of materials.
