Sacha Brienesse lives and works in the Netherlands. She started her career as a mom and a teacher of Art and Design. Managing a household, a bunch of adolescents and her own studio, she accidentally took a class in fusing glass and was hooked. In 2007 she said goodbye to her bunch of adolescents, except the two of her own off course, and fully focused on her studio. She took part in many exhibitions, national and international, got nominated in Emerge 2012, and you will find her work in private collections and public space. In 2015 she felt she missed some techniques and started getting a degree at IKA Mechelen at the glass department. In 2020 she graduated successfully.

“When a crowd moves, it is very similar to the movement of water, which in turn resembles the way trees and plants grow. That is a structure that is shared by all life, even by all material. even lightning with its branches resembles a tree.” (Giuseppe Penone / NRC 8-6-16)

You will find this quote in my studio. It describes exactly what I recognize in my drawings and glass art. I get inspired by nature, find structures there that I use in a drawing. I think I draw something very unique with it and then I recognize the drawing in something else. It is proof that I am connected to everything around me, that I am that structure that is shared by all life. That structure is stored in my unconscious brain. And when I work, engrave or draw, that structure comes back to consciousness.
