SANDRA BOSTOCK
Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibitor | March & December 2024
Sandra Bostock, a Mexican jeweller, has been working alongside Lorena Lazard in her jewellery workshop since 2000. She has been a member of the Dime Dilo Collective since 2013. Sandra studied Business Administration and earned a master’s degree in Curatorship and Museography at the Universidad Iberoamericana. During this time, she also served as the director of a prominent Mexican art gallery.
In 2014, she founded Bostock Contemporary Jewelry, working independently from her studio in Mexico City. Sandra has participated in numerous exhibitions across Mexico, the United States, Argentina, and Europe. Following the pandemic and lockdown restrictions, she discovered fold forming as a method to work directly with metal, complementing it with recycled materials. Her creations feature organic structures inspired by both nature and the city.
Since the pandemic, Sandra has been working with metal and recycled wood, using the fold-forming technique as a therapeutic practice. Forging shapes or forging stories, she focuses on the force and pressure applied to the metal—the essence of its transformation—as it folds and forms into organic shapes. This process has no definitive end, only a continuous flow of creation that can be paused or resumed at will. This ambiguity invites multiple interpretations.
She draws inspiration from abandoned spaces and the sharp contrasts of urban life. Her pieces reflect a dialogue between urbanisation and nature, capturing beauty in decay and neglect. Through her work, she weaves a visual narrative that evokes the passage of time.
