Selina Gjessing-Haldorsen (SolSol) is a Scandinavian artist known for combining traditional practices with AI-driven creativity. The name "SolSol" came about by chance while creating a username and later proved to be a perfect fit. "Sol," meaning sun in many languages, represents warmth, energy, and the natural cycles of life—an ideal symbol for the artist's connection to nature and its ability to inspire, particularly during Scandinavia's long, dark winters.

Growing up, SolSol attended a Waldorf School, where an appreciation for nature and a curiosity about the world were fostered. This upbringing provided SolSol with a broad perspective that continues to shape the artist's creative approach, inspiring a deep exploration of the intricate connections within the natural world.

Beginning with traditional art forms like drawing, painting, and photography, SolSol’s practice evolved in early 2023 with the introduction of Midjourney, followed by exploring a variety of AI-driven tools such as Stable Diffusion, RunwayML, PikaLabs, LUMA, and many more. This shift opened new possibilities for visualising imaginative ideas and combining different artistic disciplines.

Nature remains at the heart of SolSol’s work, serving as both inspiration and subject. The work combines bold, lively elements with calm, open spaces, creating a balance between energy and stillness. It explores the connection between the natural world and human-made environments, encouraging people to see these relationships in a new light.

SolSol’s art invites viewers to reflect on themes such as change, resilience, and how everything in nature is interconnected. The goal is to inspire individuals to consider their place in the world and how they interact with the environment around them.

Using a mix of abstract and recognisable shapes, the work creates a visual language that feels both thoughtful and approachable. SolSol hopes to spark conversations about sustainability, coexistence, and the ways in which humans impact nature. Through textures, colours, and forms, the art opens a space for people to pause, reflect, and discover something meaningful about themselves and the world they share.
