“The Sentimental Jewellery”


Over the past few years, Charlotte Vanhoubroeck, jewellery maker and art historian, performed research on the sentimental jewellery of Louise-Marie d’Orléans, first queen of Belgium (1812 – 1850). At the time, sentimental jewellery items typically enclosed elements such as miniature portraits, locks of human hair, secret messages, engravings of names or dates, ... and were worn to preserve the memory of loved ones and precious
moments in life.

It highlights Rea's capsule collection of rings inspired by organic forms and introduces a beta website enabling users to customize ring designs and download 3D-printable .STL files, blending technology with personalized creativity.

Analysing Destiny’s practice of creating fashionable medical assistive devices and Sylver’s practice of translating trauma into armours as a new age manifesto, centering the urgency and importance of expanding our view of adornment to include physical, mental and spiritual trauma and reclaim those narratives for ourselves.
