He is constantly learning through studying other artist’s work which is sculpting his own vision. Those photographers who have influenced his work include Timothy O’Sullivan, Ansel Adams, David Graham, and Giles Perez. Interestingly enough, he considers Charles Beiderman who was a constructivist sculptor his greatest influence. He came into contact with this artist as a teen while making color slides of the sculptor’s work for galleries. This artist introduced him to his published books, and his philosophy of art through conversations together..

He considers himself a photorealist and documentarian shaped by the processes and tools of his choosing. He prefers archival techniques, and hopes that his images will be interesting for generations to come.

Photography is a mechanical process which records a moment in time. The selection of the moment and the tools used are the artists choice, and these make the photograph. Every part of the process is a choice, and made for a reason. It is not just about composition and subject matter, but also about camera, lens, film, developer, chemical processes, paper, and environmental impact.
