TUE SANDO
Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibitor | 2024
Presented by K2 Academy at the Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Fair 2024, Tue Sando is a London-based jeweller focusing on accessories for men - but also statement pieces for anyone who dares. Following a career as a corporate lawyer, he swapped the contracts and late nights in the office, for precious metals - and late nights in the workshop. Through a diploma program at K2 Jewellery Academy, Tue managed to migrate from the corporate, word-centric world to a tactile, visual world.Migration is not a concept foreign to Tue. He was born and raised in Denmark but has for the past 25 years been an enthusiastic immigrant to this country. Tue has brought the Scandinavians’ love of bicycles with him. From time to time, his love of bikes creeps into his work.
Tue Sando is fascinated by large tactile shapes and surprising contradictions between weight and size. His world does not have ‘Do Not Touch' signs. Tue wants jewellery to be touched, fondled, and felt against the skin - as a constant reminder to the wearer that they are standing out.
“Men should wear significantly more jewellery” is his firm belief. Luckily times are a-changing. Perhaps men wear jewellery differently from women. Perhaps they prefer calling it ‘accessories’ and perhaps men don’t like to change jewellery so often. For that reason Tue has created a silver wrist cuff which can be worn in the shower or while at the gym or in the pool. The cuff is sweat-proof and made to measure for an exact fit.
Tue also has a past as a postgrad War Studies student and subsequently created a series of Grenade rings to remind us of the perilous times we live in.
