Vincent Decat is a French designer based in the Netherlands. After graduating from an industrial design degree in Brussels, he is now studying at Design academy of Eindhoven where he focuses on the potential of materials and the relation between design and sculpture. His projects are not only motivated by material experimentations but also by his interest in concepts of time, space, sustainability and people’s connection to objects.

Vincent Decat stands against the uniformity of large scale production by advocating for a handcrafted approach through natural and recycled materials. While seeking to extend his knowledge in manufacturing techniques, he pursues his intention to fuse design with sculpture and photography.

Vincent’s works are characterised by the fact that the object fully embodies its making process because the latter reflects its story and therefore its uniqueness. He is not focusing on one specific material but on the way to interpret them, mostly through repetitive elementary interventions. The visual identity of his work results from a strong sculptural approach on how to think structures, connections and material combinations. The appearance of an object is rarely determined in advance, it is only the consequence of how the material is reacting to the making process.
