Xiaowan Sun’s jewellery work is shaped by her experiences of living in different regions, which have given her a broad perspective on culture and creativity. She is inspired by the contrasts and connections she observes in her surroundings, using her designs to reflect the richness of cultural exchange and shared human emotions.

With a strong foundation in gemology, Xiaowan combines technical expertise with a keen artistic sensibility. Her work explores the relationship between language and symbolism, particularly the fusion of Chinese characters with other linguistic forms. She uses innovative techniques such as paper folding-inspired structures to create intricate designs that reinterpret traditional ideas in contemporary ways. Her choice of materials, including copper, allows for versatility and the creation of pieces that embody themes of transformation, connection, and individuality.

Xiaowan’s designs aim to spark emotional resonance, encouraging wearers to discover personal meaning in her jewellery while connecting to universal experiences. She views jewellery not only as an art form but also as a medium for storytelling—an intimate expression that transcends cultural boundaries. Through her work, she seeks to celebrate the beauty of diversity and the power of shared narratives.
